The resort was built in 2009 in a restored colonial building forming a centre piece to modern architectural elements and sculpture gardens rich with contemporary art. Focal point of the resort is Tanah Merah, a colonial building built in the 1880s by the British military for their galas and tea parties. The two-storey structure features colonial-style white columns and a red-tile roof, complemented by a new contemporary extension, all restored. The resort promises the ultimate in personalized service and represents a new standard of luxury in Asia, combining the best of old and new Singapore. Out of the 111 accommodation units, it has 49 Premier rooms with balcony overlooking the foliage of the rainforest and South China Sea, ideal for meditative moments. Other room types include 72 sea-facing suites and duplexes and 38 garden villas. The air-conditioned resort features a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, a safe, currency exchange facilities, lift access, a hairdressing salon, café, bar and restaurants.
